Named after the owners’ 140-pound Great Pyrenees, MoJo’s Local Tap & Kitchen sits at the edge of Midtown near the Memorial Auditorium and takes its “Local” identity seriously — from a tap list heavily weighted toward Sacramento-area breweries to a kitchen influenced by the chef’s New Orleans background. The result is a space that feels genuinely neighborhood-rooted: contemporary and relaxed, with large roll-up doors that open the interior onto a dog-friendly patio and a crowd that skews families, regulars, and sports fans in roughly equal measure.

Drinks

With 25+ rotating taps, the draft list covers IPAs, pale ales, pilsners, lagers, wheat beers, porters, stouts, sours, ciders, and hard seltzers — plus wine, kombucha, and non-alcoholic options. The emphasis is firmly on local and regional breweries, keeping the lineup fresh and Sacramento-focused. Happy hour runs weekdays from 3 PM to 6 PM with $1 off full-pour drafts and food specials.

Food

The menu takes pub fare in a bolder direction. Starters like wings, Bavarian pretzels with beer cheese, street tacos, chicharrones, and house-made chips & salsa are built for sharing, while the main menu runs burgers, sandwiches, and salads with some New Orleans influence woven in. R & R starts here. Nestled among the tree-lined streets of Sacramento’s Boulevard Park neighborhood, At Ease Brewing Company is the vision of Mike Conrad — retired U.S. Army Colonel, UC Davis Master Brewer, and lifelong Sacramentan. What began as an award-winning home brewing hobby became one of Midtown’s most beloved taprooms when Mike opened the doors in May 2019. Every beer on tap is brewed on-site, in the gleaming stainless-steel equipment you can see right from your seat.

The Vibe

The military influence runs throughout — from the beer names to the “Sortie Draft Card” flight paddles — but the atmosphere is anything but exclusive. This is a family-friendly, dog-friendly, genuinely welcoming space. Settle in at the indoor taproom with its ample seating and air conditioning, or head out to the covered patio with shade canopies, ambient lighting, and misting fans for warmer days. Board games, bike racks, and a rotating cast of food trucks round out the experience.

The Beer

With 12 rotating taps, Mike keeps the lineup fresh and approachable without sacrificing craft. Expect a well-rounded range — crisp lagers, classic IPAs, English-style bitters, and fruited sours among them. Standouts like the DD-214 IPA and the Rucksack Lager have earned a loyal following, while the sour program keeps things interesting with inventive seasonal purées.
