15th and R Streets, Sacramento

Anchoring the corner of 15th and R Streets along Sacramento’s R Street Corridor, Iron Horse Tavern pays homage to the neighborhood’s industrial railway roots without taking itself too seriously. Reclaimed wood, hexagonal floor tile, blown glass fixtures, a pounded copper bar top, and a model locomotive beneath an antique tin ceiling set the tone — polished enough for a date night or business lunch, relaxed enough to show up in a t-shirt for a beer and a burger on the patio.
The Patio
The outdoor patio is one of the more popular spots along R Street, and for good reason. Misters handle the Sacramento summers, a fireplace extends the season into the cooler months, and the dog-friendly setup means four-legged guests are always welcome. It’s a year-round destination that draws a steady crowd from afternoon through late evening.
Food
The kitchen leans into elevated comfort food with a global twist. The Mac ‘n Cheese Bar is a standout — with versions like Lobster Mac and Chicken Chorizo — while the Honey Truffle Pizza and Tuna Poke Nachos on crispy wonton chips have earned their own following. Weekend brunch runs Saturday and Sunday from 9 AM to 3 PM, featuring items like Korean Fried Chicken & Eggs, Loco Moco, and a dedicated Breakfast Board. The full menu covers soups and salads, sandwiches, burgers, pizza, fried chicken, steaks, and more.
Drinks
The bar program runs creative craft cocktails alongside a rotating local craft beer selection and a well-curated wine list. Happy hour runs Monday through Friday from 3 PM to 6 PM with deals on wines, specialty cocktails, and bar bites.
